Mari Inouye

Stability coach for athletes who perform on unstable ground.

World Equestrian Games gold medalist. Grew up on Kauai. Trained in gymnastics, vaulting, and movement science. Now helping athletes — riders and surfers alike — master the moving surface beneath them.

Coach · trainer · athlete

Before you can master an unstable surface, you have to master yourself.

Mari's workshops and classes are built on one core principle: the body must learn stability, coordination, and confident movement on the ground before it can find freedom on an unpredictable surface. She is one of the rare coaches who has lived — and won — at the elite level in multiple athletic worlds, and she brings that depth into every session she teaches.

Train the body. Trust the movement. Own the surface.

What i train

Proprioception & dynamic balance

Training the nervous system to read and respond to unpredictable, shifting ground — the core demand of both surfing and riding.

Ride the barrel

Meet the Vaulting Moving Barrel — a trainer that moves with you. By mimicking the natural sway of a horse or shifting ground beneath your feet, it challenges your balance, strengthens your body, and elevates your cross-training like nothing else.

What i train

Functional mobility & stability

Hip, core, and ankle work rooted in gymnastics and FMS methodology. Mobility with a purpose — performance in the saddle.

Beyond her work with individual athletes, Mari has brought her performance methodology to some of the world's most recognized organizations. She has partnered with and trained onsite employees at US Equestrian, FEI, Nike, Clorox, Hurley, Facebook, LinkedIn, EA Sports, and more — helping teams move better, feel stronger, and perform with greater confidence both on and off the field. Her approach translates across industries because the fundamentals never change: build stability, develop body awareness, and train the whole person.

Endorsements of Proven Performance

“A few summers ago, I told my trainer, “I wish I could find a personal trainer who is familiar with horses but also a personal trainer!”. I was excited to meet Mari this summer, as she is exactly that. Her background in vaulting really helps shape our workout sessions. When I share things that are limited in my riding or things I want to improve on in the saddle, she always curates a great training session that focuses on those things. Mari is helping me work on my mind-body connection and awareness, which in turn helps my connection with my horse.”

Yui Mekhail - Amateur Rider

“Working with Mari has completely upleveled my riding. I can feel the difference every time I'm in the saddle — all the groundwork and exercises we've been training have truly paid off. My horse and I communicate so much more clearly now, and that connection shows in everything we do together. I'm more confident, more balanced, and genuinely having more fun riding than I have in years. If you're serious about becoming a better rider, Mari is who you want in your corner”

Kaitlin Vosseller - Competitive Rider

“Working with Mari has made such a noticeable difference in my riding, especially with my stamina and endurance. I’ve seen a clear improvement in my ability to stay strong and balanced throughout an entire ride without getting tired as quickly. Mari is always carefully tailoring every exercise we work on to me as a rider and to the specific areas I want to improve, helping me reach my goals and improve my overall fitness and well-being as an athlete!”

Angelia Li - FEI Junior Rider
Noa Elbaz - Competitive USA Vaulting Athlete

“Working with Mari has been truly wonderful. She taught me how to be more aware of my body control and the connection between my mind and body — lessons that go far beyond the arena. I can really feel the difference in how I move on the ground, and even more so in my connection with the horse. Mari has a gift for helping you understand your own body in ways that transform your riding”
